Probably: Your blood flow is generally increased in amount and speed (velocity) when you are pregnant. And lying down pressed UPWARD so that the heartbeat/blood flow is TRANSMITTED to your head/ears. It will likely greatly diminish after delivery!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I had a tiny speck of red blood when I wiped last night. The size of a pen head. Is this okay? I haven't had more yet.

If not more, OK: The amt of blood you report is not suggestive of a problem.

Just remember, everything you eat, breath, and drink potentially goes in the fetal circulation.
I always try to emphasize that with my patients, then if something does occur--you don't have to say-
"only if."

Good luck with your PG. I've always thought a delivery was the only time one is really happy to be in the hospital!! ...Read more

There are lots of false positives (meaning a condition is suspected but ends up not being true) with us screening. That's why it is just a screening. If you then have a positive screen, you move ahead to the gold standard test - in this case the blood work or amnio. ...Read more

What looks like a broken blood vessel in my eye, spread throughout day, and headaches. Didn't hit my head. And I'm pregnant. What should I do?

GYN: If you are being seen by an ob/gyn for pregnancy, consult with them as soon as you can. Sometimes hypertension can cause a conjunctival hemorrhage (blood vessel break) and headache.
