Pregnant Acid Reflux Symptoms
I just found out that im 5 weeks preagnant, few weeks before i took Nexium (esomeprazole) for acid reflux and sertraline for panic attacks. Is that safe for the baby?
Likely OK: Nexium (esomeprazole) not a problem. The jury is not in yet on sertraline during pregnancy. The problems that have been suspected with sertraline appear to be more of a problem later in pregnancy, closer to delivery, with some of these meds being suspected to be involved in some cardiac/breathing problems in newborns at the time of birth with a condition called persistent pulmonary hypertension. ...Read more

Possibly: Slow gastric emptying is associated with constipation. Slow gastric emptying is associated with gastroesophageal reflux. Drink more fluids--water, fruit juices, do more physical activity, if there remains a change in your lower bowel activity for a month, see your pcp, who will likely refer you to a GI doc. Once I have acid reflux I need to take nexium (esomeprazole) for.how many days or until the symptom goes off?
1-4 days to benefit: PPI's differ as to duration of action, side effects, tolerance, cost/insurance coverage. All PPI's are equally efficacious, so what options exist after you complete your course of esomeprazole depends on your therapeutic response (e.g. symptom resolution, persistence, recurrence?) as well as the cause of your gastritis (e.g. if H.pylori was found, has it been treated to eradication?) ...Read more

Is it bad that I need to take femotidine daily for acid reflux (felt in neck) despite a bland diet? Good news is one 10mg tab relieves all symptoms.
Acid reflux nearly daily. Trying to pinpoint why. Could it be yogurt? I eat a low fat, almost zero sugar, plain yogurt every morning prior to symptoms
Acid reflux Reflux: is due to excessive acid PLUS an incompetent sphincter at the lower end of the esophagus ..acidy foods, carbonated beverages , and drinking fluids while eating make it worse.... I do not think yogurt causes it and I do not think it can be "pinpointed"! BTW try sleeping with the head of your bed on blocks (thick books will do) Hope this helps! DR Z ...Read more
