My period normal last 4 days, today is the 4th day, would taking a pregnancy test gives an accurate reading?

Prefer to wait: Even though today's pregnancy tests are highly accurate, I prefer to tell patients to wait a week after their missed period and take a home test. Most will be greater than 99% positive, if pregnant at that time. ...Read more

Menstrual Cycle (Definition)

The menstrual cycle begins with the shedding of the uterine lining, resulting in bleeding from the vagina. A few weeks later, one ovary releases an egg and the uterine lining thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy. Pregnancy can occur at this stage if sperm fertilizes the egg. See below: If you did the test correctly you are not likely to be pregnant. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. Can a pregnancy test read positive before implantation? My period is due on the tenth but test said positive 10 days before next period.

Hi, I have one question i GT my period really early last month but it missed it this month my pregnancy test reads negative could it be just irregular?

Pregnancy: A home urinary test is accurate. It may not be positive until one week after your missed period. If you have any doubt and the test remains negative get a blood pregnancy test. It sounds like you didn't ovulate. This will result in an irregular period. I do not think you are pregnant. You may find that you may have a late heavy period. This is not usually serious. See your doctor. ...Read more

See a doctor: Hi Stephanie649, There are other reasons to miss a period than pregnancy, and if you are a month late and your home pregnancy test has been negative x2, it's time to see your doctor for further evaluation. In the mean time, I'd make sure to avoid cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. ...Read more

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
