Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

I took mesopril after having pregnancy test positive. After some dark clots, and complete dose I still donot have bleeding. What to do?

Not 100%: Unfortunately, this medication does not result in pregnancy termination 100% of the time. There are a couple of different options. It can be taken again, either the same way or by a different route, in other words, if you took it orally the first time you could use it vaginally next time. Or you could move directly to a surgical procedure. Either way, I would see a doctor for an ultrasound first. ...Read more

I had my period Nov 12 ended Pregnancy test positive Dec 16 how far along is the Pregnancy now?

I had my period Nov 12 ended Pregnancy test positive Dec 16 how far along is the Pregnancy now?

It depends: If it really was a period you would be about 6 weeks along. However, you might be further along if the period was just first trimester spotting. A transvaginal ultrasound will give you a much more definite answer because it can actually measure the size of the gestational sac and the crown-rump length of the fetus. It is usually accurate plus or minus a week. ...Read more

Pregnancy test positive. Week 4 n 3days! But I cant visit doc until my hubby comes home. N his coming on 9th week of my pregnancy. Is it ok?

Yes, its ok: Waiting until your 9th week to see your doc will most likely not hurt you or your baby. It would be best to start taking pre-natal vitamins that contain folic acid even before you see your doc. We often like to see you sooner to arrange an early ultrasound and review your history but it doesn't frequently change the pregnancy outcome. Best wishes! ...Read more

Can a pregnancy test positive through a blood test just 5 days after intercourse?

Can a pregnancy test positive through a blood test just 5 days after intercourse?

Not likely: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. ...Read more

Pregnancy test positive line showed up only when I had A flashlight up to it. Shows a line that I didn't see with the naked eye. Could I b pregnant?

Need more info: Did you have unprotected sex? Did you miss a period? If yes to both, you should re do the test at 5-7 days after the missed period. You may get a blood test that is positive sooner and will be positive if you missed your period. For home test Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD.

I took a pregnancy test yesterday morning and it was negative. But I checked it last night and it had half a line of the blue positive strip. Help!

Can retest in 5 days: A partial positive line on a urine pregnancy test is still considered positive, but the concentration of HCG in the urine may not be high enough to create a full positive line. If pregnant, the line should be strongly colored a few days later. If uncertain of a test result, a woman can repeat her test 5 days later. ...Read more

My daughter has taken 3 home pregnancy test that were positive with her morning urine well late last night we went to the hospital and she was barely able to pee but the test came back neg then she took another test this morning and got a bright positi

All test aren't equal: It sounds like she is likely pregnant- the more days that pass- the more likely the test will be positive- a quantitative b-hcg will give the real answer. These can be followed by her pcp or ob/gyn. Very early pregnancy can cause false negative test. So depending on what your hoping for- cross your fingers and go see the doctor. ...Read more

Yes: With discrepancy in tesing results, retesting is important.

White line on pregnancy test after a few hours. (Looked positive) negative test the next morning. Should I test again? I'm so confused. Having symptoms

Pregnancy test pos?: Usually, home pregnancy tests are meant to be evaluated several minutes after testing. Also, usually lines showing +be results are blue or pink. A white line is usually a careful inspection of where the test would have shown a blue or pink line -- if it was +ve. However, not knowing which test you used, makes it tough to be sure. The best thing to do is see your ob for a reliable, clear test :) ...Read more

I took a digital first responds pregnancy test &it came out positive, next morning I took a digital First responds & it came out negative. Am I prego?

Can retest in a week: Can retest AFTER 7 more days. A urine preg. Test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant. ...Read more
