How can vasomotor rhinitis affect pregnancy?

How can vasomotor rhinitis affect pregnancy?

Rhinitis can worsen: Pregnancy can make rhinitis symptoms worse. Pregnancy will cause the nasal lining to be more even more edematous and mucus will increase. This is why some moms state they are more congested and have runny noses during pregnancy and are fine after they deliver. A safe way to treat this is with saline nasal sprays and irrigation. If it really bothers you, you should talk to your OB and ent. ...Read more

Having asthma ANA nasal polyp what is home made tharapy?

No great solution: I would assume that you also have chronic rhinosinusitis given the presence of nasal polyps. First be sure that you do not have any adverse reactions from taking nsaids. The latest study showed that daily nasal irrigation with saline may offer minimal benefits. But you should really consult an allergist. ...Read more

Swollen turbinates for last 6 months. Dx vasomotor Rhinitis. Positive nasal swab for Coag Negative staph. Could this be cause of Vasomotor Rhinitis?

Definitely not: A culture like that is essentially useless. Staph CN organisms in this setting are 'just along for the ride' and have nothing to do with your sinus disease. That might have been different if a true pathogen was found (like Strep) but I'm pretty sure this is just what we call 'normal flora'. The sinuses are not a sterile place, so there are ordinary bacteria there. I would seek more about ALLERGY. ...Read more

Dr. says I have non-allergic rhinitis. IgE tests negative to allergens. Bad sticky PND. Thoughts on mucinex, (guaifenesin) azelastine spray & singulair combination?

Dr. says I have non-allergic rhinitis. IgE tests negative to allergens. Bad sticky PND. Thoughts on mucinex, (guaifenesin) azelastine spray & singulair combination?

Interesting: IgE testing is not perfect and the results do not effectively rule out allergic rhinitis. More history would be needed to agree with the diagnosis. Also, the meds listed are used effectively in some forms of non-allergic rhinitis, but not together in this combination for any particular subtype. Consider seeing a rhinitis specialist (allergist or ENT) comfortable in identifying rhinitis subtypes. ...Read more
