Pregnancy Problems Due To Double Uterus
I have a septate hymen (is now sub septate, hangs down from the opening). Is it true I am at high risk for double uterus or pregnancy complications?
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Preterm labor: Uterine didelphys is a term used to describe a uterus that has developed into a "heart-shaped" or "walled" cavity with a mid-line division. This irregularity means that a pregnancy will implant in one side and will not have the entire uterine cavity to develop. Smaller room for the baby increases the risk for premature labor. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Anatomic anomaly: This is an anomoly of development that is not repaired and usually doesn't cause significant problems. In the past this disorder often went undiagnosed. What are the chances of having twins when having double uterus? Is it even possible to have twins with uterus didelphys?
Yes and yes: Having a uterine didelphys, to my knowledge, doesn't increase your chance of having twins. In order to have the most common type of twins, fraternal, your ovary has to release 2 eggs, so twins more dependent on ovary than on uterus. But yes, it's possible to have twins with this malformation of the uterus. ...Read more
Is a didelphys uterus pregnacy considered a high risk pregnacy im 26 year old smoker with a double uterus and 4 months pregnant
Hello.: Hello. I would ask your doctor if s/he is currently classing you as high risk. Having a double uterus (uterus didelphys) does not necessarily mean that you will need special treatment to have a normal pregnancy and delivery. There can be a lot of variability in this condition. However, your doctor will probably want to follow you somewhat closely to ensure that you don't go into pre-term labor. If one of the uteruses is very small and that is where the embryo implanted or if that cervix is poorly developed this can increase the risk for miscarriage and preterm labor. In some cases there can be an increased risk for a breach delivery. One thing you can do to help your fetus is to stop smoking. Take care. ...Read more
I have a double uterus and been in the pill for a full month. I had unprotected sex and he finished inside what are the chances of me being pregnant?
Unprotected sex: Having a "double uterus" (didelphic uterus is a rare condition. However, it does not confer any great change in fertility rates when compared to women with one uterus. I had pregnancy of 10 week and facing the problem with fibroid in uterus with size of 6.09 CM & 6.98 cm. Can I continue with this pregnancy?
My pregnancy is 25+4 days and my uterus length is 28 CM is it a problem, does it affect parturition. My weight now is 62.6 kg?
Relax.: Size-dates discrepancy usually means erroneous dates, not fetal growth aberration. Ask your obstetrician to schedule a prenatal ultrasound for assessment of fetal growth and amniotic fluid volume. Other possibilities include uterine fibroids or poor fundal height measurement (common). It is too early to predict how your labor will fare, however if the fetus is indeed large, check for diabetes! ...Read more

Age 22yrs. Mycobacterium tuberclosis complex detected in uterus after hyterscopy. How will it affect future pregnancy. Also have thyroid problem.
Complicated: This is a very complicated and relatively rare condition. You should speak with your ob/gyn about it. Healthtap is great but any advice on that subject you get is not going to be very well informed. A doctor needs to read your medical chart, see the results of lab test and know more about your history. Consult a doctor who knows the entire story. ...Read more
