Pregnancy After Novasure Ablation
Endometrial ablation refers to procedures that use energy to damage or destroy the lining of the uterus that normally build up in preparation of pregnancy. If no pregnancy happens, the lining is shed as a period. There are several different types of ablation-thermal heat, radio frequency, and freezing. All of them are good options but some might be better in certain situations. ...Read more
Can I be prego, I had endometrial ablation and essure done in 2015 haven't had aperiod since but now I have some bloody mucos and pregnancy symptoms?
I have menorrhagia. I get 5-6 iron infusion/yr. lysteda vs endometrial ablation (i don’t care for pregnancy). What are pros/cons for each?
If u are getting: Iron infusions, u need to have a da vinci robot hysterectomy and then u will not bleed at all, I do ablations in office and if I could garantee u it would get rid of all of your bleeding that would be the way to go but it doesn't always work and I use Lysteda, but in your case u need it out and the robot is the least invasive way and make sure the doc does many robots not just a few. ...Read more
Either one: There really is no good answer to that question. The procedures are equally effective for most women. If your uterus is larger then 8-9 cm, your physician may choose thermal ablation which may be better for larger uterine cavities. If your procedure is done in the office, my experience has been that novasure is somewhat better tolerated and certainly quicker for the patient. ...Read more

Yes and No: The Novasure ablation procedure is specifically to decrease or stop heavy menstrual bleeding. Women who also have endometriosis can still have the procedure; however, it won't help with their endometriosis. The reason for this is that endometriosis is outside the uterus. The Novasure procedure works by cauterizing the inside of the uterus. Best wishes! ...Read more

Absolutely not: Very dangerous to you and a possible pregnancy to become pregnant after novasure. Thought there have been documented successful pregnancies following novasure, the risks to a woman and forming fetus are way too large. That is the goal: Severe scarring is difficult to quantify because that is essentially the goal of endometrial ablation. That is the gynecologist is attempting to create a scar of the endometrial lining to "ablate" or eradicate the surface by a controlled thermal injury typically inflicted with radiofrequency with a goal of ending menstruation (menorrhagia or dysmenorrhea). ...Read more
This is not uncommon: The tissue you described is the residual tissue burned during the ablation. I've heard it described by novasure patients like that. It's also not uncommon to have some bleeding after an endometrial ablation. Sometimes regular periods may return after several weeks to years. It is more common to have light bleeding. You should discuss this with your doctor at a future visit. It is not urgent. ...Read more

That being said, it is typical to spot, stain or discharge for up to 6 weeks. Finally you should wait to see how you are doing at 3 months, before considering the procedure a failure. Hope this helps! ...Read more
