Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Is it possible to have a successful pregnancy 7 years after an ablation?

Is it possible to have a successful pregnancy 7 years after an ablation?

Probably not: While an ablation is technically not a sterilization procedure it certainly makes it more difficult to conceive and carry a pregnancy. Your age is also working against you. I had an ablation about 3 years ago. At the time I didn't want children. I am now 42 years old. Is it possible for pregnancy ?

Unlikely: Once you destroy the part of your uterus that produces the endometrium (the stuff that would receive & support the embryo)you can't carry a pregnancy. You could conceive, but the material would shed. You could talk with a fertility center about arranging for a surrogate to carry your baby. ...Read more

Unsure: You should see your doctor immediately. They should follow the pregnancy to first make sure it is in the uterus and not an ectopic pregnancy. There is no good data about pregnancy after ablations so you will need to be followed closely. ...Read more

What is the possability and risks of pregnancy occuring after both a tubal ligation with a uteral ablation! how rare is it and can it occur twice?

Much less than 1%: Endometrial ablation is not a sterilization procedure and cannot be relied on for pregnancy prevention, though it probably reduces the risk. Most methods of tubal ligation have failure rates of less than 1%, so one can get pregnant after having both and lightning can strike twice! ...Read more

I have had thermal ablation and also have mthfr, is it possible for me to carry a pregnancy to term?

Unsure: The mthfr should not really matter. Unless you homocysteine is elevated mthfr does not affect anything at all. It is very difficult to become pregnant after a thermal ablation and requires a fertility specialist to investigate and test the uterus to see if pregnancy is possible. ...Read more

Period on 21. Sex on 30 with no ejaculation. 47 years old. Negative pregnancy test today. How accurate? I've had an ablation 6 years ago

Tests are accurate: Today's home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test will give a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (or when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon. ...Read more

I just had 2 postitve pregnancy tests and I have had tubes tied and ablation of te uterine lining?

Possible problem: There is a high chance that you have an ectopic pregnancy, which is a pregnancy in the tube (instead of in the uterus).
