Can ct head/orbit cause : lightheaded dizzy w/ brief low rumble noise, headache w/ tingling forehead? Dr said maybe anxiety, but no hx panic. Attacks

No, a CT cannot: CAUSE these symptoms. In fact, a CT may HELP DIAGNOSE reasons for dizziness and headache, such as sinusitis. Your doctor is correct that anxiety can cause dizziness and tingling, even without "panic attacks". If you have your CT on a disc, I can explain it to you on HealthTap Concierge healthtap. Prednisone (Definition)

Prednisone is a synthetic cortisone. The body makes cortisone, a natural hormone made in adrenal glands. The body converts it to Hydrocortisone to become active. 25 mg of cortisone has about same effect as 5 mgm prednisone. The average person would produce 3-6 mg of pred daily. So why use a substitute? The synthetic has more anti-inflammatory effect; but has less effect ...Read more

Recently started 2 new rx. Prednisone & plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine). I'm really shaky & weak, light headed & dizzy. Normal while starting new drug or need 2 b concerned?

See details: Why were you started on these meds in the first place? Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) or Prednisone can be possible causes. Depending on the dose, Prednisone may be more likely a cause. Finally, it could be a flare of whatever underlying disease they are treating. Speak with the doctor who prescribed them.

What are possible causes of repeated ANA 1:640 where prednisone helps symptoms of rashes, fatigue, dizziness, jt &muscle aches when all other labs are (-)?

What are possible causes of repeated ANA 1:640 where prednisone helps symptoms of rashes, fatigue, dizziness, jt &muscle aches when all other labs are (-)?

Lupus most likely: You are describing a complex of symptoms and findings consistent with lupus. The positive ana, rash and joint pain gives you a 75% likelihood fo having lupus. All these symptoms are responsive to prednisone. Looking for other possible areas of involvement such as blood or kidney abnormalities is important. See a rheumatologist.

How long do side effects of prednisone 40mg last once stopping it? It was a 4 day dose. Dizziness and weakness being the worse.

How long do side effects of prednisone 40mg last once stopping it? It was a 4 day dose. Dizziness and weakness being the worse.

Up to 3 days: However, that shouldn't be the case usually, some patients may experience prolonged biological effects with a relatively high dose as what you received few days after finishing the prescribed schedule, if symptoms stay or worsen, better call or see your doctor

Other options than flornief & high salt diet to control autoimmune dysautomia w/ low bp, dizziness? Prednisone is only thing that currently works 4 me

Autonomic Dysfunction: Proamatine (midodrine) is another option. Also wearing elastic stockings may help some individuals not only the orthostatic hypotension but also with the leg swelling that sometimes accompanies this condition.

Dizziness, vision blurriness, & confusion that lasts hours or days on/off x 3 yrs. Prednisone clears up sx. MD wants EEG. Worth it? Tired of useless tests

Yes: These symptoms sound like central (brain) disorder. The EEG may give important information. The fact that prednisone helped may indicate an inflammatory disorder. See a neurologist. The fact that the symptoms have been present for 3 years strongly indicates that you should have an MRI of the brain. All these symptoms for such a long time really needs a neurological diagnosis ASAP.

I am on day 7 of severe dizziness. An ENT just told me I have viral labynthitis. He gave med prednisone. Not a very friendly dr so I didn't get to any questions. Is there any hope for this to actually work for me? Is there anything else I can do to get m

Hope yes: If you have serious symptoms, you would feel better to see an ENT who does the Epley maneuver. Then you could at home do a series of Brandt Daroff exercises. You have not been well served with the prednisone. Both maneuvers are well described on YouTube. I show my patients the Brandt Daroff exercises often. You need a better exam and second opinion tomorrow or soon. Good luck and happy healing.

Is it normal to experience heart palpitations, hr of 100, and dizziness when tapering prednisone by 1 mg? O

Is it normal to experience heart palpitations, hr of 100, and dizziness when tapering prednisone by 1 mg? O

Palpitations: No. Experiencing palpitations is not normal. About 1-2% of patients taking stroid therapy reported palpitations as side effect. Some times prolonged steroid therapy could cause cortisol deficiency, which could lead to hypotension; tachycardia (rapid heart beat) could be a reflex response. There are multiple other causes for tachycardia and palpitations. Talk to your physician.

Can prednisone help autonomic dysfunction? For some reason it calms my heart palpitations & dizziness (which I had before ever starting the prednisone

Yes but...: Ususlly use a steroid called fluoronef. This is used as it causes salt and water retention which helps maintain blood pressures in pts such as this.

Brain inflammation: If your doctor has prescribed the Prednisone and directed you to increase your dose during these episodes, yes you would follow directions. If not sure about this, please contact your physician and ask.

22 yrs of prednisone treatment for SLE. 3days of nausea, fatigue, weakness, dizziness and low body temp between 95.2 to 95.6. What could it be?

Must consider infect: With the long term steroids even with a low temp we must consider infection. Sometimes this can occur when you get a new Prednisone prescription and the new pills are either ineffective or are not bio equivalent to the previous Prednisone pills you need to see your rheumatologist for an evaluation

Help. Lupus-like condition. Get flares of severe brain fog, confusion, dizziness -affects my job. Neg neuro work-up. Increasing prednisone during episodes& symptoms resolve. Lupus cerebritis still likely?

Rheumatologist: You must be seeing a physician for this condition. Have them consider consultation with a neurologist. While on steroids you are at significantly greater risk for central nervous system and other infections. Cannot advise more without knowing your full medical history.

Md thinks my lupus-like disease is affecting my cns. Prednisone stopped dizziness, nighttime sob &palpitation. Since taper, awaken sob, heart racing. Why?

Md thinks my lupus-like disease is affecting my cns. Prednisone stopped dizziness, nighttime sob &palpitation. Since taper, awaken sob, heart racing. Why?

More info: Do the palpitations awaken you or do you awaken with a startle which causes the heart to race? How fast is your pulse when you note the palpitations? How long do they last? Do you also get palpitations on other occasions. A pulse rate of 120 to 150 has more significance than one of 90, for example. A startle reaction may last a minute or 2 as opposed to significant tachycardia. Heart monitor helps.

I feel dizzy and lightheaded a lot of the time wot causes this?

List is very long: The diagnostic possibilities is lengthy for just those symptoms. Easy things to check first and foremost would be hydration, good nutritional habits, correction of anemia if present, reducing/eliminating smoking and excessive drinking. Of course, medical expertise will help if simple measures don't.
