I'm on 100mgs of thyroxine for hypothyroidism. I'm trying for a baby can I take a preconception vitamin with iodine in it 150mg. Will it interact.?

I'm on 100mgs of thyroxine for hypothyroidism. I'm trying for a baby can I take a preconception vitamin with iodine in it 150mg. Will it interact.?

That's fine: Hi. It's fine to take that prenatal vitamin with that iodine; it won't interact with your l-thyroxine. And just to clarify, you're taking 100 micrograms (mcg), not 100 milligrams (mg). 100 mcg is the same as 0.1 mg, so if you want to use milligrams, it's 0.1 mg. Often your l-thyroxine dose will need to be increased early in your pregnancy. I'm sure your OB is on top of that. Good luck! ...Read more

Is a preconception visit necessary if I am healthy, up to date of doctor visits and vaccines, eating healthy, and am taking prenatal vitamins?

Maybe: It depends on your doctor and insurance. There maybe some others concerns that your provider would want to go over with you. Maybe you forgot something. Maybe they would just like to get to know you. Maybe they need labs. Maybe insurance mandates it.
Patient care revolves around you and who you choose to be on your healthcare team. ...Read more

How to get fat?

How to get fat?

See below: First of all, I don't suggest getting "fat" as it brings about many hazards. But if you are underweight and want to gain weight, do so by increasing your calorie intake. You need to consume more calories than you burn. Don't do this by eating a lot of junk food. Make sure you're getting all your essential nutrients. Also, you can gain muscle mass by weight lifting or other activities like that. ...Read more
