Is lescol stronger than lipitor, (atorvastatin) crestor?

Is lescol stronger than lipitor, (atorvastatin) crestor?

No: Lescol is weaker than those two. If your cholesterol level reaches goal, then it probably does not matter which statin you use. But if you require a higher dose, and do not reach goal even with high dose Lescol or other older drugs, then Lipitor (atorvastatin) or Crestor would be preferred. They are more potent. As they are about equally effective, price becomes an issue since Lipitor (atorvastatin) is generic now. ...Read more

Can a niacin supplement replace vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin)?

Niacin.: Supplementing with 2000-3000mg of flush free Niacin daily can help to control your cholesterol levels quite nicely, even increasing your HDL and converting your LDL to a less harmful subtype. As a negative, Niacin can cause facial flushing and redness so get the flush free variety. And have your liver enzyme values monitored, as they can be affected by Niacin use. Could replace Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin). ...Read more

Is crestor better than zocor (simvastatin)? (when tg high HDL low LDL ok) . Thanks

Not better-different: Both are statins, and work through the same mechanism to lower cholesterol. Crestor (rosuvastatin) is a more potent statin than zocor ( now generic as simvastatin).
