Pounding Heart Pulse Made Worse By Lying Down
I am experiencing pounding heart (pulse) (worsened by: lying down ) , foot numbness and back pain (side: upper) . I have recently been treated for a UTI and wondered if any of these could be related. Echo and EKG were normal.
Panic versus?: No one symptom definitively indicates a heart attack is or is not in progress, but many people make the fatal mistake of waiting out atypical heart pain. "Heart pain" is often indistinguishable from esophageal, pericardial, mediastinal, gastric, &chest wall distress. Unless this is a typical panic spell for you, check on chest pain please. ...Read more

Did a breathing test today all tests were 80s to 100s % Range overall good. Small airway was 72 is that bad? Is it normal to get your heart rate up and pulse and not feel pounding heart beat in chest? Scared for a year Lump feeling throat weak pulse.
Normal: Your spirometry results appear ok. Many people with rapid heart rates do not feel palpitations or forceful beat. Lump sensation in the throat is quite characteristic of anxiety. If your blood pressure, heart rhythm and heart rate are all normal, I doubt that you have a truly weak pulse. You should consider stress management therapy which I feel will relieve your symptoms. Discuss this with your MD ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Increased vagal tone: I checked with other physicians on Global Rounds & received only 1 reply which made any sense: increased parasympathetic (vagal) tone. Type "symptoms of increased parasympathetic tone" in Google to see what I mean. It may also explain the asthma / reactive airway disease that was detected on PFTs: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20044211. Trying to ID "causes of increased parasympathetic tone" ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Was diagnosed in Jan. w/ new LBBB. Stress test & labs normal, no further testing. Now have SOB and pounding heart when lying down. 39 yo fem smoker.
More workup: A normal stress test is reassuring and means you have time to look into this problem further. LBBB is not normal and suggests that you might have a structural problem with your heart. An echocardiogram (an ultrasound scan of the heart) would be a good idea to make sure there is not valve problems or heart enlargement. Your GP can order this. Cutting down smoking or stopping is really important! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Cardioneurosis?: I am finally getting some responses on Global Rounds. One of my colleagues suggests that you have Cardioneurosis, also known as Da Costa's syndrome. Hyperthyroidism can: and does tweak metabolic rates, which can be unsettling, psychologically, and stimulating, physiologically. Either can trigger a panic reaction, because anxiety in general, is designed to mobilize our resources in response to something we cannot manage or control. First, neutralize the effects of the thyroid, and then see a therapist for background psychology stuff. ...Read more
