Can a low Vitamin D level of 20 (normal range 33-100) cause any symptoms such as depression or fatigue? I also have POTS syndrome.
Perhaps: I have seen low vitamin D cause fatigue and slow thinking. Usually it's at a level even lower than 20 however anyone with the level of 20 should either take vitamin D3 supplements or get out in the sun. POTS is one of: A number of autonomic dysfunction syndromes and recurrent fatigue is part of the manifestation. Low Vit D could contribute to generalized symptoms and should be corrected. It would not be surprising if you were depressed but it is unlikely to explain your physical symptoms. Underlying causes: I believe that POTS is a set of symptoms which can potentially explained by a underlying cause. I would recommend you look for a cause by working with your doctors and address the cause before you say that you have depression. SNRI: Snri = serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Effexor, pristiq, meridia, savella (milnacipran), (milnacipran) and Cymbalta are in this class. Tramadol is not. When serotonin and norepinephrine are not taken back up into the neuron, they are more available in the synaptic cleft between neurons. Cymbalta & savella (milnacipran) treat fibro pain; the others more for depression. Cymbalta can treat depression; savella (milnacipran) perhaps less so. ...Read more
