Good question...: As far as we know, the best way to prevent prostate cancer is to eat a lower fat diet with a lot of fruits and vegetables. The best way to prevent dying from prostate cancer is to get screened with a psa blood test and a rectal exam by your doctor. Your father: Has active prostate cancer that is not responding to current treatment by psa criteria. A question is the term 'suffering' - what are his symptoms? I do not know either of the meds he is on, but most reserve treatment for symptomatic elevation of psa. If he is 'hormone refractory', consider alpharadon or zytiga (abiraterone acetate). ...Read more
