I am 9 weeks post op for renal cell carcinoma (partial nephrectomy) and I have a jp pump and a nephrosty tube. For how long?

Await healing leak: Having a nephrostomy tube and jp drain for 9 weeks after a partial nephrectomy would be very unusual. I assume that this was because of a urine leak after surgery? Urine leaks, while rare, can occur, particularly if the tumor was large or very central in the kidney. However, your course is unusual and I would recommend you ask your surgeon specifically what the long term plan for management is. ...Read more

Foot drop after radical nephrectomy surgery?

Foot drop after radical nephrectomy surgery?

Peroneal nerve: Isolated foot drop after surgery is likely due to pressure on the lateral aspect of the leg just below the knee during surgery. As seen in the picture, the peroneal nerve is at risk of pressure injury where it crosses the fibula. This kind of "palsy" due to pressure may recover spontaneously over weeks to months. If not, orthotics or surgery to graft a nerve along the injured area may help. ...Read more

What are pain expectations. On post op carotid surgery?

Can vary greatly: Any surgical procedure will have some sort of pain associated with it — because everyone tolerates pain differently, it's near impossible to truly answer your questions. How much pain should I feel post op ACL surgery?
