Have sinus pressure & post nasal drip w/ no runny nose. Hands are shaky and ears are ringing, had eyes checked, all good. Afraid of brain tumor.?

Probably not!: At 20 yo your symptoms point more towards a basic sinus issue, with a possible underlying anxiety disorder. If your hand shake all the time, you may have some familial tremor or something else, but most likely not a brain tumor. If the shaking is constant, than see a neurologist to get it evaluated. Best wishes. ...Read more

For 2 weeks now have had bad nasal congestion, post nasal drip, constant runny nose. Very bad congestion & nasal drip won't go away. What to do?

Sinus: I suspect this started like an ordinary cold but at this point you may have a sinus infection. Contact your doctor for a more in-depth evaluation since a number of questions need to be answered. Allergy is unlikely at this time of year if you haven't had it before. ...Read more

How do you treat a post nasal drip chronic cough/ no runny nose in a 6 year old. Have been giving Claritin and Flonase for 3 months with no relief.?

Depends: ARe you sure the chronic cough is due to post nasal drip? It could be caused by asthma or reflux. Also you may not be using the Flonase properly, make sure it is pointed outward toward ear and use consistently on a daily basis. Claritin might not be strong enough antihistamine. Have child checked by pediatrician or allergist. ...Read more

Can Ipratropium Bromide nasal spray help with post-nasal drip? No runny nose or front nasal discharge, just the drip. Not linked to allergy (per ENT)

Can Ipratropium Bromide nasal spray help with post-nasal drip? No runny nose or front nasal discharge, just the drip. Not linked to allergy (per ENT)

Depends: It depends on the cause for the post-nasal drips. If the nasal drips is not linked to nasal stuffiness, sneezing, or runny nose, one needs to consider other causes (sinus infection for example). If your nose and eyes itch, it is likely from allergy which can confirmed by the history and skin testing. One can't tell whether one has an allergic problem by looking at the nose and throat alone. ...Read more

How do I get rid of bad sore throat that follows post nasal drip and runny nose. What is this? Allergies or something serious

How do I get rid of bad sore throat that follows post nasal drip and runny nose. What is this? Allergies or something serious

Post Nasal Drip: Postnasal drip is likely secondary to allergies. The best treatment is intranasal steroid sprays with the addition of over-the-counter antihistamines like Chlor-Trimeton. It is important to see an allergist for further work up to determine what triggers are making your symptoms worse. Avoidance of trigger is key, unlikely something serious if you can feel dripping. Common cause of sore throat. ...Read more

Can having deviated septum cause bad post nasal drip? Anytime I have a runny nose, snot will fall to my mouth and gag on it. Ent said sinuses are good

Unlikely: A deviated septum does not usually cause severe post nasal drip. If you have already seen an ENT doctor and sinusitis has been ruled out, I would consult an allergist. The major symptom of a deviated nasal septum is difficulty breathing through the side of the nose where the septal cartilage is deviated. ...Read more

I have recently got new contact lenses, how do I overcome the runny nose and post-nasal drip when wearing them? Do I have to get used to it?

Not a normal symptom: I'm not sure why you have those symptoms. Are your eyes tearing a lot? If so, you may be exacerbating dry eyes or the lenses may not be fitting properly. Alternatively you may be worsening your allergies. Are your lids swollen at all? If it doesn't improve, see your eye doctor. ...Read more
