C. Diff: Have to be concerned about an infection in the colon caused by a bacterium called clostridium difficila. Most often occurs after given an antibiotic for some other reason (appendicitis). Anitibiotics can kill off "good" bacteria in colon leading to over growth of bad bugs- c. Diff. Need to have stool checked and if present treated with oral antibiotics. Symptoms: dark loose stools, difficult/incomplete evacuation, severe abdominal distention from trapped gas, mucous. Diagnosed IBS. I think Proctitis?
Typical IBS symptoms: As you suspect, these symptoms indeed are consistent with irritable bowel syndrome. But they aren't particularly suggestive of proctitis (inflmmation of the rectum). Inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn's disease) can cause similar symptoms as IBS, and also can cause proctitis. Not from the surgery: It is very unlikely that these current symptoms are related to your surgery. By far the most common cause of diarrhea is viral infection (enteritis, or gastroenteritis if it involves nausea/vomiting). With any diarrhea, weight loss, dehydration (feeling like you're going to pass out when standing), or fever lasting > 1 day would be cause for concern. Fissures: For anal fissures warm water applications and applications of ointments like anusol or nupercain are soothing. Insertion of glycerin rectal suppositories allow easier passage of stools. If you have no urge to have a bowel movement, take senokot daily which has a stool softener and gentle bowel stimulant. Possibly: Residual symptoms of pancreatitis can include some fullness and discomfort, depending on severity and cause. During the period of recovery, abstinence from alcohol, limiting fatty food intake, may limit the stress on the pancreas. Belching: Postprandial stomach gas buildup can be prevented by avoiding obviously gassy food and drinks, by not eating too fast, by not drinking large quantities of liquids while eating , by not forcing yourself to belch and by taking simethicone 1/2 hour after a meal. Does bowel prep medicines relieve severe fecal impaction prior to colonoscopy procedure night before ?
Possibly: Bowel preps are taken to assure that the colon is relatively clean as the scope is passed so that even small lesions in the mucosa can be visualized. Many of the preps contain polyethylene glycol which absorbs liquid into the bowel. This may help but you may need a stool softner. ...Read more

Gastritis: I assume that the gastroenterologist prescribed a regimen for healing of the gastritis, but since symptoms are ongoing has he/she recommended a follow-up egd for evaluation and to determine whether gastritis is still the cause of these persistent symptoms? Intestinal Candida: Is a very rare infection. Can occur in immunosuppress patients. If your GI said you have ibs he is most probably right. Do you have a colonoscopy done? Results?
