40s male with IBS, with nagging EGR pain 6days post biopsy-free colonoscopy. No fever, blood, some bm. What non-perforation complications are likely?
IBS may be nervous: Many patients with IBS have it because of automatic brain dysfunction. The bowel has it own nervous system that receives signals from the lower brain, enabling it to function properly. I would guess that your diet is poor because that is the commonest way to affect the control mechanisms. Try shaping up your diet and get rid of all the sugar. ...Read more

Is it normal to have diarrhea for couple of weeks after a colonoscopy, and when will your bowels be back to normal.
I had a colonoscopy done 3 years ago. Nothing showed up. Recently I been having persistent diarrhea after I eat. Do I need another? I am 27.
See GI Doc: And get your stools tested to see if there's inflammation. Its not clear why you had a colonoscopy 3 years ago - perhaps you were having similar issues then. If so, were biopsies done and normal? You may need to focus on your diet and see if you have lactose or gluten intolerance. Google low-FODMAP diet for more info to help track potential food triggers. ...Read more
I had a colonoscopy yesterday. The diarrhea has not stopped since taking the MoviPrep the day before the procedure. Can I now take an anti diarrheal? Is there anything else I can do? Thanks!
Yes, yet patience +: wash gently almost certainly the wisest option. Quick "fixes" are widely marketed and make lots of money for those selling them. Yet that does not mean that using them, in most cases, is wise or accurate thinking, other than having less money to spend on other issues, hopefully of more value. ...Read more
