Positive Toxoplasmosis Antibody Test
For how long does it take for antibodies to toxoplasmosis to form and appear positive on a blood test?
Test positive rocky mountain spotted fever, parvovirus, toxoplasmosis. Achy, tired all the time take pain meds, allergic to antibiotic. More ideas?
See below: Are all these tests showing positives for acute disease or old disease? If new, you need treatment for rmsf and likely toxo. Parvovirus will usually resolve without sequela with supportive care. As for allergies to antibiotics, this can be tested for and determine if true or not. Either way, rmsf can be deadly - seek care if it is acute. ...Read more
Can i donate blood even though I had Toxoplasmosis 10 years ago? Antibodies show up in blood test every year and they last for a week then disappear.
Possibly: Every country has its own blood donation criteria, blood banks usually ask and test donors before accepting their donation. As for Toxoplasma to be transmitted through blood transfusion, the risk is very low, however better not to betransfused to pregnant ladies or immunosuppressed individuals. Thanks for being generous, and thanks for being honest , blood bank staff would better answer you ...Read more
Complex issue: Toxoplasmosis is especially a concern in pregnancy. The earlier the infection occurs, the more severe the potential effects on the baby. Symptoms of infectiion are not very specific. Tests can turn positive as early as 7 days after exposure, but early treatment does not seem to help transmission from mother to baby. If there is a suspicion, a doctor for infectious diseases should be seen. ...Read more
Antibodies: Antibodies fall into several different classes, IgM, IgG, IgA and IgE. The first two are the primary ones measured in the humoral immune response in the blood. IgM can appear fairly rapidly following exposure, usually within a week, while a measurable, specific IgG response appears later, usually two-three weeks. This forms the basis of longer-term immunity and persists for months to years. ...Read more

My wife is 3 weaks preagnent an she had her toxoplasmosis test and tested positive with Igm 7.05 and IgG 81.0.is there any risk on the fetus Thx?
Toxoplasmosis: Highly improbable that she has had acute Toxoplasmosis during pregnancy. This pattern suggests old infection. If she ever becomes profoundly immune suppressed it is possible to reactivate Toxoplasmosis and so her doctors should be aware of the prior history of exposure. It is one of those organisms that once having acquired you never get rid of. Fetus should be fine. ...Read more
My wife is 3 weeks pregnant and she did her second toxoplasmosis test and the result were also positive for igm2.5 and IgG 51.2 any risk on the fetus?
Can toxoplasmosis IgG take time to reach positive level after Igm return to normal? I recently had 2 positvie Igm tests now negative but so is Igg.
It can ...: IgM is the acute(rapidly formed) antibody against Toxoplasmosis that is initially formed but then your body will start to form IgG antibodies(assuming it's not severely immunocompromised). But if the two IgM/IgG tests are >2-3 weeks apart and still the IgG's remain negative, there is a possibility of a false (+) IgM antibody test. ...Read more
