beef/ pork allergy?: You don't state why the tests were done. False positives are much less common when the tests are done in people who have symptoms induced by the food in question. Food testing by blood or skin test is not really indicated if you don't have symptoms. Perhaps your doctor was looking for mammalian protein allergy syndrome which can cause delayed reactions that are sometimes misidentified by pts. ...Read more
Can someone who had a positive skin test for TB , 20 years ago give blood or bone marrow? But never had tb.
Not necessarily: (+) PPD means that you have been exposed to the TB agent. It doesn't say when. So if you had the TB in the past, it still will be (+) because your body "remembers" from the previous exposure. The greatest risk is if the TB agents are latent in your body, that's why everyone with a (+) PPD will have either a complete treatment with 4 medications or a mild one with only one. Tuberculosis: Ppd (purified protein derivative) is a test for exposure to tuberculosis. If you have a postive test, you have been exposed and your body is making antibodies. If your exposure was through a vaccine (called bcg) treatment might not be necassary. More likely, a chest xray will be ordered.
