Three days in a row of positive opks (nondigital). Temp didn't spike until two days after the THIRD day of pos opk. When did I ovulate?

Three days in a row of positive opks (nondigital). Temp didn't spike until two days after the THIRD day of pos opk. When did I ovulate?

Not specific: The spike noted in the urine is the LH surge, which occurs about 24 hours before ovulation. The temp change is very non-specific and can be affected by a lot of things. You can probably look back to see when ovulation occurred by when your period starts, which should be 14 days after you ovulate. ...Read more

3 nearly positive OPKs the last three days. Ovulation pain also. Would this mean I'm ovulating or nearly ovulating?

3 nearly positive OPKs the last three days. Ovulation pain also.
Would this mean I'm ovulating or nearly ovulating?

Yes and no: Ovulation occurs usually within 36 hours of the first test turning positive. So, it doesn't matter how many turn positive, the first one counts. Depending on the test, I'm not sure what "nearly positive' means, but the hormone that those tests check for does not gradually increase. It's a sudden spike. I'm guessing that you have already ovulated, and the first "nearly," was positive. ...Read more

My OPK has been positive 2 days now when will i ovulate?

My OPK has been positive 2 days now when will i ovulate?

Ovulation prediction: Ovulation predictor kits (opk) predict when you will ovulate. When you detect the first positive that means you will ovulate within the next 24 hours. That means ovulation takes place next day after positive test. Once you see the first positive, you don't need to continue checking as the test will stay positive for 2 days then turn negative again. ...Read more

4 consecutive days of positive opks, did ovulation happened or not? Is this normal?

4 consecutive days of positive opks, did ovulation happened or not? Is this normal?

OPK: The accuracy of opk varies - sadly, the opk are more reliable the more regular your cycles are normal, meaning the women who need them most will get the least use out of them. 5 days of "lh surge" is not physiologic, so it's either a bad test or you have a very unusual ovulation. ...Read more

Is there possibly an issue if my basal temperature rise (indicating ovulation) occurs 4 days after my first positive opk?

Is there possibly an issue if my basal temperature rise (indicating ovulation) occurs 4 days after my first positive opk?

No: I do not depend on ovulation predictor kits. There is too much variability with them and they are not as accurate as we think. ...Read more

Positive OPK but negative hpt but I am 11 days late for my period and ovulated at the begining of the month how is this possible?

Positive OPK but negative hpt but I am 11 days late for my period and ovulated at the begining of the month how is this possible?

Repeat preg test: Pregnancy test kits are not 100% accurate. You can try a different brand to definitively rule out pregnancy. Another possibility is that you ovulated weakly and did not produce enough progesterone to have a menses. Also, some women have chronically high LH levels (PCOS) so the OPK show positive all the time or erratic results. If you have a history of irregular menses then that is more likely. ...Read more

Hello doc, i ovulated on cd17.My cycle is exactly 29 days.I had 1 OPK test left out so i took a test tday cd23 and showed positive. How s t possible?

Possibilities: Since your body can't ovulate twice in a cycle like that, i'd say the options are: 1) you may be pregnant, remember that the HCG hormone is almost identical to the lh hormone that the opk detects, so preg. Can cause false + on opk 2) test may be inaccurate (there are variable quality opk's on the market). ...Read more

I've got a 35 Day cycle. Is it possible to ovulate 3/4 days after your period, I got a positive opk on cd8. ?

I notice you have asked similar questions to this many time so clearly it is a concern to you. TTC. Late ovulation 9 days before expected cycle. Took emertia progest the day the OPK was positive is that too early.

14 days before: Ovulation occurs 14 days before your next period not 14 days after your period. If you know how many days there are from cycle to cycle just subtract 14 days and that's the day you should ovulate. Ovulation kits can be helpful to time intercourse. Simply follow the directions located inside the package insert. If you are doubting the results then schedule a visit for Ovulation blood testing ...Read more

Can an ovulation test really detect the hCG hormone as well. Why would an OPK show up positive several days after certain ovulation?

Can an ovulation test really detect the hCG hormone as well. Why would an OPK show up positive several days after certain ovulation?

Yes: There are two subunits in fsh, lh and HCG so there is some crossreaction in the kit. The kit is used to detect lh, but it can also detect some hcg. I would not expect to see any HCG a few days after ovulation so i suspect it is just picking up leftover lh. If you were pregnant and used the ovulation kit a few days before your missed menses, it would be postitive. ...Read more

Hi, my cycle is every 28 days i had sex the day before i ovulated woke up with clear but pink tent mucus next day took OPK its positive what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong: Sounds like you followed the book to a "T". Everything you did is perfect. The pink tinted mucus is likely some cervical bleeding from the intercourse. It is not a sign that something didn't work. After you ovulate the sperm will last in the reproductive tract for 3-4 days. Then after fertilization (24 hours after ovulation) the embryo will implant in 5 days. Therefore the bleeeding is no harm. ...Read more

PCOS. Consistently getting 6-8 days of positive OPKs with ovulation confirmed on 2nd or 3rd day of the +OPKs. Should I be worried? Or normal for PCOS?

No worries.: I don't have all the facts at hand, but positive ovulate is a good sign. In fact, it's more common for women with PCOS to NOT ovulate . So, in a very literal sense, frequent ovulation is not "normal" for someone who's been properly diagnosed with PCOS! ...Read more
