Hyperextended: You may have hyperextended your wrist if in the push up position and/or developed what is commonly known as a a repetitive strain injury (if you have been doing lots of push ups/yoga etc). Sometimes we just overuse a small joint that isn't used to it or accidentally put too much stretch in the joint - leading to inflammation in the tendons. The extremes of flexion or extension can put a lot of stress on the wrist, stretching some of the ligaments, which can cause pain only with specific positions. Ganglion cyst: This is a ganglion cyst of the wrist. Very common, not serious, but can cause the problems you describe.
