Type 1 diabetic actively exercising & healthy eating looking for right lantus (insulin glargine) dose.
Lantus (insulin glargine) dose: Hi. I applaud you for your healthy lifestyle and dedication to tight diabetes control. Finding the right Lantus (insulin glargine) dose can be trickier than people think, especially for an active type 1. I was on Lantus (insulin glargine) for about 6 years before going on CGM in 2006. CGM is THE perfect way to find the right Lantus (insulin glargine) dose, but not everyone uses CGM yet. Do you? My guess is no, or you'd have dialed in the right Lant dose ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Exercising at least 1.5 hrs/day. Eating whole grains, fruits, vegetables w/few processed foods. Moderate portions. Why am i showing minimal weight loss.
Too many calories: Minimal weight loss despite exercise and eating a healthy diet is most likely due to consuming beyond the calorie limit required for your body to burn fat. You have to eat about 3500 calories less than what you burn over 7 days to lose just 1 pound! Track your calories by weighing and measuring your food and using the label information. Calories from beverages add up quickly too. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Might be normal issu: Random palpitations can be a normal issue if they happen from time to time or if you are taking in stimulants like coffee, alcohol, tobacco or over-the-counter medications such as pseudoephedrine, which is found in cold preparations and some herbal medications, including ma huang. So it might be something in the smoothies, try removing one ingredient everyday and see if it comes back. ...Read more

Made a mistake taking 27 units of humalog instead of 5. Lantus (insulin glargine) dose is 27.
Drank a 25gm carb coke and two dex4 fast acting glucose tabs, 4gmcarb ea?
Humalog (insulin lispro) lasts ~4 hrs: Lantus (insulin glargine) is basal Insulin that works slowly over ~24 hrs to control fasting (non-meal) glucose. Humalog is fast-acting mealtime Insulin that works most action 1-2 hrs after dosing, to control after-meal glucose. No: If you are truly a type 1 diabetic, then the main treatment for you is insulin. Avoiding Insulin in a type 1 is just going to make you sicker. After eating 75 grams of carbs (french bread) on relatively empty stomach, 1 hour gluc level was 190. 2 hour gluc level was 127. Normal? Pre-Diab?
Probably normal: Hi. That is not a valid test. The OGTT uses 75 g liquid glucose; French bread is not an equivalent. And the OGTT uses serum glucose, not finger stick capillary glucose. You would also heed the fasting glucose, a standard part of an OGTT. Having said all that, your values could easily be normal. If you're worried, see your doc and do the REAL OGTT. Eat healthily and exercise regularly. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
