Deep inside one of my ears it feels like fluid and pressure are there. Popping ears does not help at all. Not pain; just a fluid feeling, occasional pulses, but very deep. What does this sound like, and when should it warrant a trip to the doctor?

Answer: There is most likely fluid and mucous inside your Eustachian tube causing the blockage. If popping the ear does not help, try using a decongestant nasal spray such as Afrin or Neosynephrime in the nostril on the side of the blockage, drinking clear liquids, and avoiding dairy products. There is no hard and fast rule about this, but I will usually prescribe antibiotics after a week if unimproved. ...Read more

I can make sound (cracking/popping) inside my right ear and also comes when swallowing. Is it eusthacian tube disfunction? Could it cause deafness?

Tmj vs etd: Crackling sounds in the ear can either be related to problems with the jaw joint or tmj, problems with the eustachian tube or etd or tinnitus. A way to tell is to open and close the jaw with a finger placed in the TMJ socket which is roughly the pocket created when one opens the mouth and places a finger directly in front of the ear canal right at the level of the sideburns.
