Pretty Effective: All of the standard nsaid's are fairly effective for menstrual cramps. This would not be my choice of an NSAID for this indication as i believe that it has more GI side effects. You might consider Ibuprofen or naproxen. All of these meds should be used cautiously as they can cause GI ulcers. Probably should have to take for more than 4 or 5 days. As any NSAID: Not a drug to take lightly (neither is aleeve, advil, (ibuprofen) Motrin ect.). All non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents have potential for many disturbances. Yes, but watch GI: Given the half life of ibuprofen (advil), it would be nearly gone by 8 hours out. So you could switch to ponstel. But they should not be regularly combined like this. Once for a switchover is OK but mixing NSAIDs risks serious gastrointestinal side effects. ...Read more
