Is topically using coconut oil, castor oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil & aloe vera gel (as homemade lash/brow serum) safe to use during pregnancy?
Pregnancy-safe oils: Castor oil and sweet almond oil may bring on early labor, if used earlier than term. Coconut oil and olive oil are safe in pregnancy. Topical vitamin E oil is felt to be safe, but may cause contact dermatitis in some people, as can topical aloe vera. "When in doubt, leave it out" applies in pregnancy. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20306538 ...Read more

Clog pores: Coconut oil does cover pores: for some skins this is a good thing as it's mild, natural antibiotic properties kills surface bacteria which can lead to acne/scar tissue; it can also suffocate skin or Meibomian Gland mites (ie, when used at night) which live in oil pores and lead to scar tissue. Still good to wash off completely after use. Eyedoc2020.blogspot.com for more info ...Read more
