Pre planting chems: Planting is mostly preceeded by various fertilizers and pest control agents being applied prior to the crop so that optimum health and growth of the crops can be obtained. At the same time the soil is turned and a new surface exposed to the elements. This is in the air and is probably what is causing the eye stinging. ...Read more
Baby breathed in a cloud of drywall dust the other day while walking near construction in building. Got away asap, 2 days later has cough/ runny nose?
Opening package of raw ground chicken & juices splattered in my nose and eye. Is this of concern? I wiped out/ blew my nose & used eye drops in eyes.
Possibly: Otrivin (xylometazoline) is a decongestant that will shrink clogged nasal passages. if there is no cold or facial congestion, it will not have much effect. Swallowing helps open the passageways and clear the ears, so a good way to help your infant avoid ear pain is to make sure he's hungry by the time the airplane descends, and continuously feed from a bottle during descent. ...Read more
Swam in Gulf of Mexico and hotel poolyesterday. Today my eyes feel irritated and stuffy. Like the start of pink eye. this from salt/ chlorine or germ?
Can be either: the eye irritation may be the start of a "pink eye"--but also could just be irritation from pool chemicals. Would suggest using saline eye drops for the next day. If you start having any drainage from the eyes, then this is prob an infection and will require antibiotic eye drops. IF the irritation goes away with the saline drops, then it was just from the pool chemicals. If question, medical ap ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Yes: What you described suggests an allergy.Get a more detailed answer ›
I get allergies/cold in the end of August every year. It's itchiness in my nose and throat, sneezing bouts, runny nose, mucus. Pollen is low right now?

On the other hand, pollen count reflects only the exposure within a short distance from the counting station and thus may not actually reflect your own exposure. Other possibilities- Mold counts are also high in the fall (b) you may have become allergic to new allergens. ...Read more
I got hit in the nose by a basketball, is my nose ok? And does getting hit in the nose make your nose smaller?
Depends: You should be evaluated. While nose fractures aren't usually an emergency, occasionally septal hematomas develop and these necessitate a more expedient intervention. Additionally, in rare cases persistent clear drainage can indicate a more serious injury to the deep upper sinus area. Nose shouldn't lose size. Persistent headache also warrants immediate evaluation. Urgent care can assist. ...Read more

Dry nose. Have hard scabs in nose that bleed sometimes. Hurts to blow nose. Live in colorado very dry climate. How can I soften nose to prevent?
Sometimes impetigo: Sometimes scabs in the nose may just be from dryness, but other times, they may become secondarily infected. If vaseline or neosporin don't work, there is a chance it could be an impetigo infection. In such which case you would need to have an appointment for evaluation and a possible a prescription for something like mupirocin (an antibiotic) ointment. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Childs nose running like a faucet in the dead of winter, snow on the ground. Could it still be allergies in this weather or a cold?Seems to feel great
Vasomotor rhinitis: There are many of us who have a nose that is quite sensitive to temperature changes & other environmental issues. Going from a warm home into the cold can trigger a nose-leak process called vasomotor rhinitis. The leaking turns on outside but stops over time if you go back indoors. I consider it benign but there may be other issues to rule out during a visit. ...Read more
