How does charcot-marie-tooth-disease affect diabetes?

CMT

Stringio
is an inherited motor neuron disease. People have a normal life expectancy as CMT affects peripheral nerves and is characterized by muscle weakness in the lower leg. It should have no affect on diabetes directly. Diabetes that is not well controlled can also cause neuropathy and compound the CMT. Please see your specialist to discuss your particular case in more depth than is available here.

Dr. Ellen Wenzel answered:

What treatments are there if I have MRSA and diabetic foot wounds?

See a physician

All diabetic wounds should be monitored on a regular basis by a medical professional; doubly so with a history of MRSA. You want to ensure that these do not become infected to the soft tissue or the bone(s). A wound specialist will tailor treatment specific to you and your wound and your health status.

Amputation
Do not try to treat a diabetic foot infection with home remedies without at least having a professional observing as the consequences of an unsuccessful treatment can mean hospitalization, amputation or overwhelming sepsis and death. Dr. Shaun Machen answered:

What exactly is a diabetic foot problem?

Foot ulceration

Extremity-foot
Diabetics have loss of protective sensation to their feet. This occurs because excess glucose in the blood causes pathological changes to the nerves. Poor sensation can lead to the development of sores or ulcers. Diabetic also have poor blood supply to their feet so it is difficult to heal the ulcers. The ulcers can get infected and cause gangrene of the foot.

Dr. Sahba Ferdowsi answered:

What causes diabetic foot infections?

Multi-factorial

Extremity-lower-foot
Diabetics often develop nerve damage, which can decrease sensation especially over the lower extremities. Ulcers can then develop on the feet, usually on pressure points from standing or a tight-fitting shoe. Diabetics may also have poor circulation, which can lead to breakdown of tissue and impaired healing of the ulcer, and high blood sugar allows bacteria to grow and cause infection.

Dr. Scott Bolhack answered:

What are diabetic foot infections?

Diabetic foot infect

Bone
The diabetic can develop ulcers in the foot that can get colonized with bacteria and infected easily. The ability of the diabetic to heal is compromised. Often, these ulcers are colonized with more than one type of bacteria. The level of infection can advance (become deeper) very quickly and then muscle, tendon and bone become exposed creating further treatment challenges.

What should I do when a diabetic foot is in pain?

See a doctor!

Diabetes
Could be due to diabetic neuropathy, or numbness in the feet due to diabetes which often starts out painful. If your feet are already numb and you are having breakthrough pain it could be something more serious and should be seen by a podiatrist asap.
