If you are wearing: An orthotic i think the shoe becomes less important as the orthotic will improve the shoe function. For example i think those canvas keds are horrible for feet as they lack support, but if you place an orthotic in it it turns the bad shoe into an acceptable one. ...Read more

All depend: All depend of the severity of the pronation and ethiology.Mild pronation can be treated with over the counter orthotics, however more severe pronation need custon made ones with especific characteristics incorporated into the design/construction to adrees the problem. ...Read more

For flatfeet/o0verpronation & wear orthotics is it good to wear the orthotics w a shoe tha already has an arch built in? Too much support? Are you a podiatrist? Thank-you much, Sheila

You would know : If it was too much support as it would not be comfortable. If the orthotic is well made to your foot then the sneaker type does not matter as much. ...Read more

Don't worry: Shop for shoes late in the day Find a shoe where the widest point of the shoe is at the widest part of the foot. Leave one thumb press of space between big toe and the toe box of the shoe. Place a wad of lamb's wool in to the distal toe of shoe Place a 1/2 inch heel lift under the shoe liner. Yes they can!: Your PCP can certainly order an X-ray, if he or she feels that it's necessary. You really don't need to feel obligated to see a podiatrist first, as there may be a very simple solution to the problem. Also check with whomever sold you the shoes and see if they have seen this before and have suggestions. ...Read more
