Possible: Fungus (athlete's foot) does really well in dark moist areas. Hence bath tubs and showers are great mode of transferring the infection to family and friends. I suggest you use bleach bath tub cleaners after you use the shower, and please see a podiatrist and have them take care of your athlete's feet. Needs an evaluation: Need more information regarding the injury. It would be very hard to JUST injure a nerve and nothing else. Burning, tingling, sharp, shooting pain indicates nerve issues.
