No: Plethora is a term that we pediatricians usually use to describe a newborn that looks "flushed" or swollen looking with redish facial appearance. Answeing strictly your question and in this particular condition, it shouldn't be painful or bothersome to the newborn. Swelling: I would wonder if you are on an (ACE) or angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor for blood pressure control. A side effect of this drug can be angioedema ( swelling) in the airway. These drugs include lisinopril, enalapril, Captopril etc. If you are taking a .....pril drug then talk to your primary care about a trial switch to another drug. ...Read more

Ciprofloxacin: It would help to know for what reason you were prescribed the Cipro, (ciprofloxacin) however, it is highly unlikely that your current symptoms are related to this antibiotic taken months ago. You have many issues now, all of which may or may not be related, and I suggest you see your provider to discuss a plan for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more
