My 3 year old son has a bad cough, he was playing in cold water today. When do I know if it's pneumonia? . .

Doctor can evaluate: A child with a "bad cough" should be seen by his doctor. Common colds usually cause a mild cough, not a "bad cough". Likly virus: Many more children have virus infections with cough than develop pneumonia from bacteria germs. Most of the time, bacterial pneumonia has at least some fever with it. Not really helpful: Others may have differing opinions, but there is no proof I'm aware of that taping an athlete's ankles reduces the incidence of injury or protects an already injured ankle.
