It could be a lateral meniscus pain, lateral collateral ligament issue, hairline fracture, patellar ligament pain, fibular head dislocation, etc... Initial swelling in the knee which has partially resolved however continued swelling and pain has continued. You should visit an orthopaedic surgeon. Get examined!: Your symptoms suggest patellofemoral( kneecap) pain. Your 'cyst' may be causing the pain in the back of your knee ( popliteal/ Bakers' cyst ).Not sure if your 'partial' ACL injury is causing symptoms or not without a thorough examination( it can cause cysts in the knee joint occasssionally.) What type of injury: Did you twist your ankle or where you in fall or accident? Need more information to help you out. But 7 days for any injury to the ankle is too soon to worry about it not healing. As far as the difference in opinion from the doctors, have the doctor who told you there is a fracture to go over the x-rays with you and show you exactly where the bone is broken. First, try to see : If you are have good flexibility to begin with then consider more core strengthening. Try heat via heating pad or hot tub. If no response, you can try taking some otc medication if no contraindications when you play. If no help, then seek evaluation by a physician. If overweight, try to trim down and if smoking, stop. Get checked: You'll want to get checked and treated right away. Although unlikely given the short description, infected joint needs to be ruled out.
