If that is the only: Time that the pain presents then it sounds like it may be muscular in origin which may require some attention to those hip flexors & adductors in terms is stretching & strengthening. Thigh ?: If this "lesion" is truly on the thigh, it is not a hernia. If you think it is a hernia due to a bulge or a "ball" in the thigh, you may have a muscle tear. I would not feel that it would be wise to play football tonight. ...Read more

Athletic pubalgia: Groin pain in athletes is not uncommon, and can be due to hip problems, sometimes associated with a click. Could also be muscle or tendon problems with abdominal and leg muses (alprostadil) where they attach to the pelvis.
