Play Soccer Braces
Should i wear a mouth guard for my braces while i play soccer and are there mouth guards that are compatible for braces with elastics?
Absolutely: Better a live chicken than a dead duck. Wear orthodontic mouthguard for all contact sports (including soccer). Your orthodontist will have one for you. Do not wear the otc warm-up kind as these prevent tooth movement, therefore no braces progress. I've seen many tooth/lip/cheek injuries from soccer w no mouth guard, so ask your orthodontic specialist for help. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Is it safe to go back to soccer after ACL reconstruction? What type of brace will i need? Would you recommend going back to play soccer and run track?
Yes,: In most cases people can return to sports (including soccer & track) following an acl reconstruction, especially if it is the first time you've had a tear. However, return to play comes after months of rehab, and usually includes bracing. Your surgeon can help you decide which brace is best for your specific needs (may be custom fit bracing). I twisted it as my knee was locked playing soccer last week I have been wearing a knee brace but knee is bruised and sore should I play or sit out ?
Please get examined: With continued pain after a trauma, a physical exam and possible imaging studies are necessary to evaluate your condition. Bruising and soreness is a sign of an injury. At your age, I would get checked by a professional before going ahead and doing high impact activities. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ask Donation Center: Ask the donation center staff if they have a list of precautions you should take after blood donation. If you have a significant competition, do not donate blood within 7 – 10 days of the event, as your performance will be compromised. A recent study (in omega cycling) found maximal performance was decreased for at least 1 week and that submaximal performance was unaffected by blood donation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends on injury: Groin injuries can be from many sources, a muscle strain, a tendon tear, an injury inside the actual ball and socket joint of the hip or even a hernia. If you are completely pain free, and are able to perform all ball drills, running and cutting drill and are able to work into 3v3 or 5v5 drills without any pain, then you can play. Make sure you warm up well and get a good sweat going before out. ...Read more

I have a concussion for 11 days now, been dr. Again, aint better, was told i can play soccer again but i still have symptoms. What to do ?
I plan to eat normally for 5 days of a week and for 2 days, I plan to eat 500 calories. I'm 16, 5'3, and 130 pounds and play soccer. Is this healthy?
No: 500 calories is not enough "fuel" for your body, especially as an athlete. It's not wise to attempt to lose weight during a season of athletic competition. If you really wanted to limit calories on days you are not practicing or competing, then consider dropping to no fewer than 1200. ...Read more
