My doctor prescribed clazol instead plavix (clopidogrel) and aspirin for me; what is the advantage if there is one?

Similar: Plavix (clopidogrel) and clazol both inhibit platelet aggregation. Plavix (clopidogrel) is associated with a slighly higher risk of lowering the platelet count than clazol. However, clazol is usually contraindicated in patients with class 3 or 4 heart failure. ...Read more

Therapist told mom to take citalopram. Had heart angio and stents 2 months ago! Uses plavix (clopidogrel) metaprolol and asprin! Is it ok to use citalopram? Dosage?

Celexa (citalopram): The usual starting dose is 20mg once daily. How dangerous is this. 1200 mg motrin, 150mg plavix, (clopidogrel) and 7200mg flax seed oil daily after coils&stent put in brain aneurysm?

Risk and benefits: Placement of stents in the brain vessels is tricky- we have to balance the tendency to form clot in the stent that can lead to strokes and the risk of bleeding from drugs like Plavix (clopidogrel) that we give you to counteract this tendency. Without knowing more about your specific situation I would recommend to discuss this with the doctor who performed the procedure and follow the instructions exactly! ...Read more

These are both prescribed medications and this SHOULD be discussed with your doctor. ...Read more

I have a total of 6 stents, how long should I expect to be on plavix (clopidogrel) or other blood thinning medication?

Depends: It doesn't matter so much how many stents you have but why you have them, what do you your other arteries look like and when were they put in. For instance, if a patient had stents for a heart attack and got 2 stents and then got 2 more 8 months later and then another 2 in a year, I might recommend life long antiplatelet treatment with Aspirin (81 mg) and plavix (clopidogrel). ...Read more

Can Plavix replace Eloquis or Zarelto & is it milder than the two?

No. Arterial vs veno: Plavix represents an entirely different class of blood thinners than Eliquis & Xarelto. Eliquis / Xarelto are VENOUS (atrial) blood thinners that prevent pooled blood from clotting. The choice depends on the type of disease (arterial or venous?). TTYD or use HealthTap Prime to discuss. What is Plavix (clopidogrel) used for?

↓ Blood Clotting: Plavix (clopidogrel) inhibits platelets (usually the first step in blood clotting) from becoming activated: sticking to tissue, attracting other platelets to stick & activating the 12 clotting proteins (which act in a chain reaction) to form thrombin which polymerizes & ties everything together into clots. Plavix (clopidogrel) has no affect on blood viscosity; it is an anti-coagulant; it does not thin blood viscosity. ...Read more
