High platelets 404 (range 150-400) high eos 0.7 (range 0.0-0.5). Is this bad?

Probably not: The two results that you are referring to are in the upper range of normal. If all other results are within range, they should probably be considered normal as well. If, however, these results are part of other abnormal tests, you should discuss with your physician in order to look at the entire picture. ...Read more

What does platelet volume reference range mean?

Range of normals: Platelet volume reference range is the range in size of platelets in a normal population of people. A "reference range" is also called the "range of normal" or "normal limits", indicating that if you are in that "range, " you are presumed also to be normal. Repeat and review: This is below the normal range; however, it is considered only a mild case of low platelets and she is unlikely to have any obvious symptoms from it, nor should she need to worry about spontaneous bleeding. There are many causes of low platelet count. It would be very helpful to know what her last measurement was-this could be normal for her.I would repeat the blood count and do a peripheral smear ...Read more

Stop worrying: Just relax, there is no risk until you get into the 700,000s or so and that is when it's neoplastic. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside on either end. Don't give this another thought. ...Read more

My platelets count was 128 and recheck( 6wks later again is now 118 . Everything else is within normal range is that a concern?

platelet count: Normal platelet count--varies with the lab--is usually 150, 000 to 450, 000. Though the 128, 000 and later 118, 000 are lower than the stated normal range, they represent safe levels. The other parts of your blood count are important to know in order to understand if they are normal. Sometimes a virus or immune problem may cause a lower platelet count. Your physician may send you to a blood doctor. ...Read more
