Generally Yes, but..: These are two entirely different classes of medication, NSAID and narcotic respectively. Commonly patients take Meloxicam daily for chronic osteoarthritis and may be prescribed hydrocodone/acetominophen for acute pain after trauma for example. Your specific situation depends on your history and physical exam and should be evaluated by a pain specialist. ...Read more

I'm taking Effexor (venlafaxine) 75mg and just took acetaminophen with caffeine 400mg. Will there be an I interaction? How should it make me feel?

The max daily dose: Of caffeine for healthy adult is 400 mg/day (Mayo Clinic). Caffeine boosts response of acetaminophen for pain but together they may increase liver danger. Can I take solodyn, Advil or tylenol, (acetaminophen) and multivitamins together? What are the potential drug interactions? Side effects? Thanks.

Not at same time: Solodyn (minocycline) has many interactions; taking with calcium (usually found in multivits) can reduce absorption- they should be taken at least 2 hours apart.
Solodyn (minocycline) kills our friendly intestinal flora which can lead to yeast overgrowth ; a wide range of side effects. It's wise to take probiotics ; not use it very long. Topical antibiotics ok. Regular Ibuprofen use can cause ulcers ; GI bleeds. See comment:. ...Read more

Can you take Delsym, Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Adderall XR? Or would there be a negative interaction? Thanks ~ADD college student with bronchitis

Interactions...: Main listed interaction is between Delsym (dextromethorphan, cough suppressant) & Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR (dextroamphetamine/amphetamine); there is a theoretical increase in risk for serotonin syndrome (fever, sweating, fast heart rate, diarrhea, confusion, muscle rigidity) from Delsym taken with Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) XR. Unless also taking other serotonergic meds (for migraine, mood, pain, other), NOT likely to occur. ...Read more

I recently switched from norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) to tramadol and a higher mg of doxepin (25mg) is there an interaction between them? I have been having mild chest pain.

WEB MD checker: 1. Doxepin oral + tramadol oral

Is it safe to take norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and soma? What are the interactions between these two drugs. I got prescription from dentist for norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and use Soma for my back. Safe?

Is it safe to take norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and soma? What are the interactions between these two drugs. I got prescription from dentist for norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and use Soma for my back. Safe?

Not necessarily: Soma is a very poor muscle relaxant meant for short term use only. It's metabolites are barbiturates, which cause sedation as well as withdrawal. Combine the sedative effects from Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) with the Soma and it may cause increased sedation which could have serious side effects. You should alert you pcp that you are taking these two drugs prescribed by two different providers. ...Read more

Tylenol (acetaminophen) OK: It's perfectly fine to take tylenol (acetaminophen) if you are taking aspirin, and short term would be ok to take some Ibuprofen although you don't want to be mixing nsaid's long term as it can lead to a lot of GI upset. Any interactions plaquenil methotrexate motrin800 Tylenol500 folic acid prilosec aspirin lopressor cartia imdur ambian singulair xyzal (levocetirizine) melatonin?

Too many: You are taking so many drugs that it is difficult to tell whether drug interaction may occur. Even if you run a profile in Epocrates, it is impossible to tell whether a combination with another drug may lead to interaction. Thus you will require close monitoring by your doctor and be on the lookout for any adverse effects. ...Read more

I'm developing a sore throat, can I take keflex for infection and norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) for pain? Are there any interactions? Until I have time to get to the dr on wed

Don't take them!: There's no interaction between cephalexin (Keflex) and hydrocodone with acetaminophen (Norco), but you definitely shouldn't take them. Sore throats are almost always due to viruses, which cephalexin won't help at all; it would just make it harder for your doctor ro diagnose you. And a narcotic is giant overkill for a "developing" sore throat. Plain acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol etc) is enough. ...Read more

Is it safe to give a child hylands cold n cough and tylenol (acetaminophen)?

Dose: 10-15 mg/kg/dose, 4-6 hours, for fever 101 f or above. Some cold/cough meds contain Acetaminophen also, so there is possibility of overdosing. Many cold meds has Pseudoephedrine which increases heart rate. So, be careful not to overdose! ...Read more

Infant age 1 fever n gave panadol (acetaminophen), fever went off last for 2hr. Fever came back again n gave panadol (acetaminophen) n it also last for another 2 hrs. So now worry.

Expected pattern: A child with a fever producing illness will run that fever in some pattern until the illness is gone. This would seldom be less than a few days. Acetaminophen is expected to suppress the fever by a degree or so while it is in the system, but it does not "fix" the illness. If the kid fails to drink well enough to void every 6 hours, refuses to play, or other bothersome symptoms, have it evaluated. ...Read more
