Protection from what: It turns out that regular Depo-Provera shots every 3mo is very effective at preventing pregnancy. It's not 100% effective but as close as we can get if you get shot in timely manner. So Plan B emergency contraception isn't necessary nor will it affect Depo-Provera. But no hormonal birth control protects against sexually transmitted diseases/infections. That's why condom use is still necessary, too ...Read more

BC + Plan B?: If you are already on birth control pills, then i assume you missed a pill or two, and that's why you took plan b? Yes, Plan B can affect your periods, but that is less likely if you are on birth control pills already. If you miss a period, or your period doesn't seem right, then take a home pregnancy test to be safe. They are accurate 14 days after intercourse. Good luck! ...Read more

But usually we do see an effect on subsequent natural-cycle periods after emergency contraception. It can make them come early, late, or just make them different.
