My 12 yr. Old son falls asleep doing schoolwork, homework, and chores; but is alert when watching t.V. Or playing video games, is this adhd?
Maybe: Tv and video games are geared for a 4 second attention span. Most 2 year olds have longer attention spans than that. The 4 second attention span keeps your son alert via a neural reflex. It also lowers his attention span for the real world. Research states of those who watch 1 hour a day 9% will lower their attention span to add levels. 2 hours lowers 18% and 3 hrs 27%. Limit both to 45 min/day. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Absolutely!: I'm glad you posted this question...Having studied martial arts myself and having enrolled my son in the study as well. 'studying' imparts not only self-discipline but confidence and self esteem as well; and can be great in potentially dealing with "bullies". The only warning would be the demeanor of the sensei(or teacher); your child needs to 'fit' with him/her so meet with first and decide. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Would it be more beneficial to continue mainstreaming my 8 year old child diagnosed w hfa w adhd, gdd/asperger vs placing her in a special ED school?
Ask school: The best think for your child is for you to team up with his teachers and school to get their opinion as to how he is doing. The school district is required by law to evaluate him to see if he needs special help if he has a confirmed medical diagnosis that may get in the way of his education. Sometimes you have to push the school to do it but collaborating is always best. Ask if he needs an iep. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Yes: Until we find a cure for paralysis which still seems to be a long way off, these "exoskeletons" will become more and more available for less cost and more widespread use. My 2yr old is in a small family daycare we love,. His language &social skills are advanced. Does he need preschool or can we wait until pre-k?
Need? No...: It sounds like your son is in a loving environment. Children his age (and older) learn through play and connection. He doesn't "need" preschool. Read to him, talk to him, explain things to him, and most of all have fun! I bet he is already getting those things at the family daycare. My vote - if you are happy where he is there is no need to change. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
