It's possible.: Rarely, the use of ranitidine can increase the levels of metformin, resulting in a kidney disorder called lactic acidosis. Low sugar: 1000 dose of Metformin should cause no major concern. Much more important! You can control your diabetes to a point where you no longer have diabetes. Exceptions would be metformin at a certain level of kidney disease, pioglitazone in heart failure, and glimepiride if it's causing hypoglycemia.
