Check For Eggs: Pinworms can be seen in stool however many people do not see them until treatment has begun and passage of dead worms begins. Worms can be seen in anal folds 2-3 hrs after sleeping however another way is to check for eggs if you suspect infection: touch anal area to sticky side of transparent tape, then take tape to doctor for microscopic exam. The tape is then stuck to a microscope slide and the laboratory can look for pinworm eggs. A stool sample for ova and parasites is not as good a way to diagnose. Not likely parasite: If your symptoms didn't improve with Mebendazole, it is unlikely that ua are lookng at worm related as other worms like round and tape worms as other worms or their body parts look different. Indigestion or malabsorption may cause small fat particles in stools. In folks with poor immune system certain fungal infections of the intestines can cause them to appear in stools.
