Consider nerve: Possible nerve compression at elbow or wrist, but could be higher in shoulder or neck. See a doctor, consider an EMG study.

Nerves: Can be a radiculopathy (pinched nerve) in the neck or even carpal tunnel syndrome. Have your doctor refer you to a neurologist or pm;r physician for an emg/nerve conduction study to better characterize these symptoms.

Severe pain from neck into shoulder dull ache down right arm for 8 weeks now getting pins and needles in right hand is this a trapped nerve?

Severe pain from neck into shoulder dull ache down right arm for 8 weeks now getting pins and needles in right hand is this a trapped nerve?

Need exam: Difficult to determine without an examination. Differential diagnosis could be cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve in neck), brachial plexopathy, peripheral nerve entrapment such as carpal tunnel syndrome (not uncommon for cts pain to travel up the arm), or even myofascial pain with trigger points. Would suggest physiatric evaluation for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

Compression symptoms: These vague symptoms could have several sources, and I recommend you seek a medical exam and opinion. You may have some degree of thoracic outlet syndrome, which is caused by a compression of nerve and/or vein by the first rib. Again, please seek a medical evaluation.

My wife Julie has pins and needles down the iner right arm. Her right thumb is numb and the right index finger also with pins and needles. Why please?

Does Julie: Have trouble with her neck? This type of problem is oft associated with a pinched nerve root in the cervical spine (neck). Of course there are other explanations as well, but this is the first thing that comes to mind. A series of plain x rays, a history and a physical exam, along with a neurological assessment should illuminate the problem. See a family doctor or internist to start the evaluation

Nerve impingement: Can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging disc. It can cause muscle spasm and back pain and burning pain. This condition must be professionally managed. See an interventional pain management specialist for definitive diagnosis and management.

Maybe CTS: You describe typical features of nocturnal symptoms of early carpal tunnel syndrome. A rather benign problem which can easily be treated, and worthwhile to get this addressed. Wearing a wrist splint at night might fully control your symptoms.

I have pins and needles down my right arm constantly?

Pinch nerve: This may be due to a pinch nerve in the neck of pincing of the nerve near the elbow. It depends upon the distribution of the pins and needles. This can be evaluated and properly diagnosed by a neurologist.
