Carpal tunnel: This may be carpal tunnel syndrome which often firsts presents as numbness and tingling in lower arm, wrist and hands at night and early morning due to wrist flexion at night. If it is not closer to wrist, it may be either a brachial plexus or cervical nerve root issue. Any trauma? Disc problems in neck? May need an EMG to figure it out, as well as a physical exam. Follow up needed: In light of recent ACDF procedure, you new onset syndrome suggests possible nerve compression again in the cervical spine. A follow up visit with your surgeon is warranted to figure out causes.

What's happening is that one of the sensory nerves in your left arm is getting irritated or inflamed when you type. Try moving your left arm until you find a position that doesn't irritate the nerve.
