I just started working longer hour and yesterday my pinky toe went numb. I'm on my feel all day long. What could cause this?

In addition to: Dr. Kass' excellent answer, i'll add that if you have some sort of bony protrusion that happens to be right over the nerve that supplies your little piggy, the nerve can get sandwiched between the bony protrusion and your shoe causing something called neuropraxia which can cause you to feel numb. Make sure your: Shoes are the correct size. Is the toe straight? Or does it lean into the fourth? You May have a hammertoe with an adductovarus rotation that is being compressed in a shoe.

The two most common causes would likely be local irritation of the digital nerve running into the toe, verses a "sciatica"of the S1 nerve in the back. Have you been: Wearing any tight shoes of late? A tight shoe could cause this and if so should go away.
You could try soaking in warm water and epsom salt which will serve to vasodilate and allow more blood flow to the region to nourish nerves and see if that helps, if not consult with a foot doc. ...Read more

The dysfunctional nerves could be in the back's sacral area, the peroneal nerve in the knee area, the lateral plantar and/or the sural nerves in the foot.
