Itchy rash on back of neck and in hairline also on lower back?

Itchy back: You might be allergic to your shampoo or another hair care product. Without a medical exam it would be difficult to say. Consider using only a non sensitizing shampoo such as free and clear and avoid other treatments. If that doesn't work seek out a board certified allergist or dermatologist.

7 year old developed itchy rash first on back of neck later in day it spread to arms, stomach and legs no other symptoms, what is it and what to do?

Hard to say: If the rash is moving from a local to a general distribution it is unlikely a simple contact dermatitis like poison ivy. Generalized rashes can be secondary to an infection (virus or bacteria) a food reaction or bug bites. Without examining the rash it is hard to speculate on a cause or specific treatment. If it itches, Benadryl can be given for comfort.

Skin: Hypothyroidis even uncorrected would unlikely to cause the skin lesions you described. I think at this time you need to have a work up to rule out other autoimmune diseases. Also, seeing a dermatologist would be helpful.

Mgt: From your description there may be an allergic reaction. I would advise letting your PCP know and a dose of over the counter children's anti histamine such as Claritin (loratadine) may be used. It may be related to the virus or an allergic trigger. Your PCP will obtain a history including whether there were new foods, medications, lotions etc.

I have an itchy scalp and rash on back of neck, what can I use for this?

I have an itchy scalp and rash on back of neck, what can I use for this?

Depends on the cause: There are many types and causes of skin rashes that could cause itching. Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

? dry skin: As it is affecting the more exposed areas, however, if symptoms are really bothersome you may want to see a dermatologist, meanwhile, try some skin care techniques: as bathing with cream soap, moisturize your skin right after, hydrate you body well, and avoid prolonged sun exposure, occasional antihistamine might help too, good luck

I've had for several weeks an increasingly itchy rash on the back of my scalp. Anything to relieve this?

I've had for several weeks an increasingly itchy rash on the back of my scalp. Anything to relieve this?

Yes: There may be many causes and unfortunately we often cannot find the answer even after exhaustive studies. If it lasts over 6 weeks, see an allergist. If it is short term, try some otc antihistamine up to 4 x the regular frequency but watch out for drowsiness. Otherwise topical Hydrocortisone cream should be tried. If it still did not work, see an allergist.

How can I get rid of an itchy rash with swelling on the back of my head near my neck?

Get a diagnosis: Get a proper diagnosis. It could be fungal (tinea capitis) or bacterial (cellulitis) or allergic. These are all treated differently so it is important to know which one you have.

I have a non itchy rash on my left arm and chest that spread to my neck and back over night. What could it be?

Many causes: If it lasts for less than a couple of weeks, then I won't pay much attention to it. But if it gets painful, it may be from shingles and you need to see your doctor ASAP to get started on an anti-viral drug to reduce potential complications. Suspect shingles if the rash does not extend beyond the mid-line of the body.

Protect: Avoid things that make you break out, soaps ; wetness. Wash your hands only when necessary. Wear gloves when needed. Wear clothes made of cotton. Bathe only with a small amount of mild unscented soap, such as dove. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Use the medicine your doctor gave you. Use a plain moisturizer daily. Avoid scratching or rubbing the itchy area. Manage stress.

Guess is not best.: There really isn't a good way to identify this based on the scant information provided. Consider medical evaluation for accurate assessment.

Reaction?: If you have a new medication, vitamin or skin/laundry product, you could be causing this type of rash. Try to eliminate dyes and perfumes used in products on the skin, in the shower and laundry. If rash continues, see your doctor.

My son has a itchy rash that is hotto the touch on his ccheeks ears neck back and tummy. It came on suddenly, what could it be?

M.D. visit: There are a number of possible causes of his rash. The sudden nature without other symptoms makes a reaction or contact with a triggering agent more likely. If there is associated fever, cold symptoms, then viral and other infectious causes may be the reason for his symptoms. His age and immunization status is important information to provide as well. I would suggest a visit with your physician.

I have an itchy rash all over my torso neck back and now has spread to my legs?

Need a picture: Rashes are tough to diagnose with just limited description. Often even with pictures and biopsies rashes can go undiagnosed. It is important to see the rash and get a thorough history including new contacts, foods and medications taken as well as pattern of spread to get an accurate diagnosis. I would get seen if this rash is spreading and causing discomfort.

What can I do about a itchy rash that I am developing on my stomach, chest, back, neck, and is slowly showing on the side of my face?

Eczema: Do you have a history of allergies, asthma, or atopic dermatitis? If so, you may be experiencing an eczema flare. I would start by using an otc product like aveeno (oatmeal) eczema therapy and an otc hydrocortisone. If that does not improve your problem in a week, I would see a dermatologist.
