Doubtful: Hernia pain usually is present in the groin - to one side or another from the pubic bone. Can occasionally cause deep pelvic pain, but not typically in the urethral and it also wouldn't typically cause painful intercourse (dyspareunia). Hope this helps! ...Read more

Yes: Anything the size of a golf ball, that wasn't there in the past, and isn't suppose to grow there, should be worried about. The "pelvic area" doesn't describe exactly where the golf ball is, so a primary care doctor can look to see where it really is.
