The brain and spinal cord communicates with what is occurring in the internal organs and limbs by nerve fibers where are like electrical wires with insulation (myelin) and the "copper" (axon). Within brain and spinal cord these nerves connect to other nerves via synapses on both axons and dendrites. A nerve can carry information regarding sensations, and ...Read more

Further treatment: There are more aggressive treatment options for the spine that are more powerful than using over the counter medications, but they get progressively more involved. From non-invasive alternatives such as physical therapy or chiropractic care, to interventional pain procedures which are invasive but non-surgical, to even surgical considerations. I would not hesitate to be seen to discuss options. ...Read more

Arguably : Arguably the worst possible cause of severe pain felt in the shoulder blade and deep into the chest would be an uncommon condition called aortic dissection. Problems with the gallbladder and heart can also cause pain in the region of the shoulder or armpit (axilla). The spinal nerve corresponding to t2 also feels an area that involves the armpits and hoop-shaped strip of skin that runs across your chest above your nipples, through your armpits, and across your back at about the same level (it also involves part of the skin on the arm). After excluding things like dissection, heart problems, and gallbladder problems, a neurosurgeon may be helpful to get to a diagnosis and some relief. ...Read more

Sharp pain in my left shoulder blade. Neck pain radiates behind my ear. Shoulder pain and soreness. And little arm soreness as well. Pinched nerve?
Discuss with MD: You have a lot going on for your age, please discuss this with your doctor, you may warrant some further testing. This is not a good forum for this question as we can not diagnose "pinched nerve" without examination and testing. Your doctor may order a nerve conduction test coupled with an emg, or an MRI if they have not done so already. Discuss with your doctor. ...Read more
Can a pinched nerve cause Numbness and weakness that comes and go on the right arm/hand and right leg/foot? Also, pain in the shoulder blade/bicep.

Shoulder pain frequently. Think pinched nerve under the scapula near spine. And get rubber arm when I sleep sometimes. Any home remedy? Or go to dr?
Could sharp pain between my shoulder blade and spine be attributed to my brachial plexus injury and suprascapular nerve compression.
As the brachial plexus comes from the cervical spine, while the area mentioned (between spine and scapula) is supplied by nerves from the thoracic spine.
One could have both lesions though.
See your spine specialist.
Good luck. ...Read more

Possibly pinched nerve in upper left shoulder area. Radiates up neck and down left arm. Very painfully. Only relief when I lay flat on back.
Does a pinched nerve have to be accompanied by symptoms of numbness and tingly? For example lets say the nerve the innervates the shoulder muscle.
Not always...: Although most nerves have both motor and sensory fibers, neural inflammation may selectively involve motor fibers, in which the symptoms would be weakness of the affected muscle. On the other hand, if only sensory fibers are involved, then the symptoms would be a combination of numbness, tingling, and pain in the region served by the fibers. ...Read more
