Unclear.: Elbow pain can come from varied conditions including musculoskeletal, rheumatological, and neurological which would include a pinched nerve. Chest pain is always a potentially very serious condition as it could represent a life threatening cardiac condition. Nerve (Definition)

The brain and spinal cord communicates with what is occurring in the internal organs and limbs by nerve fibers where are like electrical wires with insulation (myelin) and the "copper" (axon). Within brain and spinal cord these nerves connect to other nerves via synapses on both axons and dendrites. A nerve can carry information regarding sensations, and ...Read more

Could the numbness I am feeling be caused by a pinched nerve? I am experiencing numbness on the left side of my chest, under left arm, and back. I have had a sharp pain for 3 weeks that goes from my shoulder blade through to my chest. I was sent to the

Arguably: Arguably the worst possible cause of severe pain felt in the shoulder blade and deep into the chest would be an uncommon condition called aortic dissection. Problems with the gallbladder and heart can also cause pain in the region of the shoulder or armpit (axilla). The spinal nerve corresponding to t2 also feels an area that involves the armpits and hoop-shaped strip of skin that runs across your chest above your nipples, through your armpits, and across your back at about the same level (it also involves part of the skin on the arm). After excluding things like dissection, heart problems, and gallbladder problems, a neurosurgeon may be helpful to get to a diagnosis and some relief. ...Read more

Weak: Weak pulse and bulging veins in one limb could indicate a serious problem with the blood vessels in that region. Such problems, which include something called arterial dissection and something called venous thrombosis, could threaten the limb or your life. These sort of symptoms should be evaluated right away. Problems with the large arteries and veins in the neck or in a limb are usually first tested with an ultrasound, using a probe placed on the skin. There is usually no discomfort involved. ...Read more

Think I have a pinched nerve on the left side of my neck. Would I be getting pain when I turn my body to the left in my ribs and also upper back pain?

Not typically: As a spine specialist, I can say that this is not a typical radiating pattern for cervical nerves.

Other possibilities would be myofascial trigger points, cervical facet referred pain, rib "subluxation/fixation", etc. ...Read more

Could a pinched nerve in neck cause chest pain?

Could a pinched nerve in neck cause chest pain?

Yes: Relatively rarely, a lower cervical radiculopathy can present with chest pain. Obviously, one would want to do a thorough workup of the much more common and worrisome cardiopulmonary causes of chest pain first. I do have a few patients that have had multiple cardiac workups that were negative and only got relief after neck surgery. ...Read more

Can a pinched nerve in your neck cause armpit pain that goes into your chest?

Can a pinched nerve in your neck cause armpit pain that goes into your chest?

Tilting head to chest and I get buzzing sensation in left foot. Does this sound like a pinched nerve if not, what could cause this?

I suffered a cervical pinched nerve about 2 weeks ago. I had severe pain in my chest and now has moved to my bac how log will it take to heel?

Very variable: What you are describing is very common and the course it will run varies considerably. It may be necessary to take some anti-inflammatory medication and muscle relaxers, which do make you drowsy. I would need to know more about your exact symptoms, but chiropractic care, acupuncture and massage do play a role at this stage. You really need to be under the care of a spine surgeon from the start. ...Read more

What causes pain near the left scapula sometimes radiates to my chest and left arm neck. Dr says prob pinched nerve I have acid reflux as well help!?

Nerve: Sounds like it could be a pinched nerve in your lower neck. Typically these will get better on their own. You can try icing, antiinflammatories and give this some time. If it doesn't seem to be letting up, an MRI can be done and other treatments can be tried. Follow up with your doc too. ...Read more

Can a pinched nerve cause cold hands, chest pains, or breathing problems?

Too many areas: Nerves supply specific areas. There's no nerve that supplies both your hands, chest and lungs. I think the pinched nerve hypothesis doesn't explain your symptoms. Instead, perhaps you should be fully evaluated. A chest x-ray, ekg, blood work and other tests as needed would provide a lot of information. ...Read more

31 male Pain in my left chest above my nipple. When I move only feels like a pinched nerve it squeezing? Also what does pi in oximeter stand for? Is it the strength of the pulse? It was 12.2 and I can't feel the pounding heat beat feeling in chest

A pinching feeling: Above the nipple could be a sign of costochondritis, inflammation of the joint that connects a rib to the breast bone. Pulse oximetry measures the percent of your red blood cells that are carrying oxygen (normal >95%.) It also measures heart rate (normal 60-110) but not the strength of heart contraction. A doctor can estimate the strength of contraction by feeling your pulse. Dr. Anne ...Read more

28. Can a muscle strain or pinched nerve cause pain for months? Took a break from my fitness routine for a month and still feel it in chest/arm/back

Yes: When exercising did you feel a 'tear or pull' sensation? Is it chest or arm? Perhaps just persistent inflammation of a muscle/ligamentous structure, or nerve. Is it tender to touch? That would indicate a musculoskeletal structure, as opposed to in internal chest structure. Try stretching exercise, and Ibuprofen/naproxen OTC. If severe, or exertional, or associated w/ shortness of breath, see a Dr ...Read more
