I have a pain in my left groin, left buttock and it is painful to walk. Could it be a pinched nerve? It hurts to sit.

Yes, Pinched nerve: The description of the pain does fit a 'pinched lumbar nerve'. A lumbar spine MRI is the best test to check out the possiblility. You should get seen and you may get a prescription for Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack to help with the nerve inflammation. Warning signs are bladder/bowel changes and/or severe weakness. Hope you are better soon! ...Read more

I have pain above right buttocks and the hip area. I can hardly walk and it started today. I did nothing to hurt it. Is it a pinched nerve. Other?

Uncertain: This could be a muscle pull. There could be other issues such as joint, bone, tendons, bursa and you do have medical conditions that also could be related to this problem . I would try simple therapy such as heat or cold and see if that gives you relief. You need to see your physician and get this fully evaluated. ...Read more

Some are done with small open incisions and some percutaneous. It mainly depends on your insurance as to the procedures that are covered. If it is due to stenosis then a laminectomy or foraminotamy may be offered. ...Read more

Sharp occasional pain as if some nerve is pinched around outer side of my left buttock. It goes away with movement. What could be cause of it?

You might be right: yes this could be a pinched nerve but I would think from the location this may be more of a muscle injury. You can have this evaluated by a physician, see if the area that you touch on the site is tender, see if there could be something else to entrap a nerve. I think that's the best course for you ...Read more
