I had surgery to pin a broken toe 6 months ago. I still can not wear any shoes apart from flip flops. Any suggestions on what to do?
F/U with Dr.: Let the Ortho Dr. (or Podiatric surgeon) know, as the toe should be better by now. Did you go through Physical therapy and work through pain meds to decrease inflammation and any swelling etc.-All these things may be important, top work through a little pain, then slowly get back "on your feet again." Good luck.See 3 more doctor answers

Upcoming surgery: crossover toe/plantar plate. Now have very small spot/bump in arch. Feels like pin in foot. Didn't step on anything. What to do? Thanks
Yes: A surgical shoe is usually enough, however, a rigid walking boot such as a cam walker will work as well. Consult with your surgeon as to what he or she would think would be best for you.See 6 more doctor answers

Healing nerves: When you have undergone a surgical procedure, it can take time for things to heal. The skin incision may be closed, but all the deep structures, such as nerves are still healing. In all likelihood, the circulation is ok. The "pins" definitely tell me nerves. It can take some time for this to subside. Swelling of the extremity could also cause these symptoms.See 1 more doctor answer
It depends...: It depends on the type and location of the fracture. Fractures usually need to be immobilized with a splint, cast, or rigid walking boot depending on the location of the injury. For a well aligned non displaced broken toe you may get by with walking with a rigid surgical shoe. Some fractures may require surgical management. Have you physician determine which course of treatment is best for you.See 1 more doctor answer
